It's been a minute

It's been over a month since my last post. I apologize. I really need to do better. There has been so much on my plate lately. Sometimes, I wonder how I still manage to function. For the past six weeks, I've been pushing forward off an average of three hours of sleep per night. Even now, I look like a raccoon as I'm typing this post at 3:38AM!

I'm happy to report that She's About That Life 3 will be out this month! Yay!!! I was hoping for a September release, but my main job comes first. I'm sad to see this series come to an end, but I'm excited about the new projects to come. I'm trying my hand at my first hood love story (pray for me). So far, I've received positive reviews from my test readers. It's over half-way finished. Just like She's About That Life it will be a 3-part series. I'll be debuting a few sneak peeks in the weeks to come. Be sure to like my Facebook author page for up-to-date information on my various projects.

Until next time...

Instead of getting the answers she desires, Dr. Monroe removes the mask from Tiana’s eyes. After vowing for honesty in their new relationship, Tiana confesses her secrets to Darius. She only hopes that their relationship is strong enough to survive all of the bad things she has done.

Unhappy with Tiana’s newfound independence, Ricky plots to get her right back where she belongs – by his side. Nothing is going to stop him from reclaiming what is his. Not even Darius.

Dr. Monroe is happy with Tiana’s progress, even though things in her own life begin spiraling downward. Suspecting infidelity in her own marriage, she takes matters into her own hands. Seeking assistance from an unlikely source, she’s given the ammunition she needs to put her own plan in motion. The tables become turned when she’s handed proof of her husband’s betrayal and she is put in the position of one of her clients.

What's Keisha up to?

Work. Sleep. Work. Sleep. Work. Sleep. Work. It's been a tough week. I've been trying to stay up on my writing, but it's hard when you have a job that can be demanding. I'm not complaining though! I woke up this morning. I'm all good!!!!

Today's focus is writing. I have a goal of 3 chapters (between two different books). If I grind now, I'll still be able to make the pool party my daughter was invited to today.

Well, I'm off here. My 6000 word count day begins NOW!

Until next time,
Keisha

Happy 4th of July!!!

Happy Independence Day! I am currently in the house, soaking up all the A/C before I head out later. It's 108 degrees. In case you didn't know, that's hot.

Hubby's feeling some type of way over Kevin Durant announcing that he's going to the Golden State Warriors. So while I'm trying to achieve my word count goal early, I have to hear Stephen A. Smith on repeat telling the world how bad the decision is on Durant's part. I really don't care. I'm a Cavs fan by marriage, so unless Kevin Durant goes to Cleveland it doesn't bother me. What does bother me, is the fact that my Hubby has the TV on max volume. That shit is loud as hell.

I've been asked if I was going to write a sequel to She's About That Life. The answer is Yes. I'm working on that now. My goal is to have it finished by the end of the month. I don't want readers waiting for too long. Be sure to follow me on social media to keep up to date on my books (including releases, sneak peeks, book excerpts, etc).

Who is Keisha Elle?

Keisha Elle has always appreciated the power of words. Living in a single parent household, she began writing short stories and poems to express her anger towards her absentee father. As her writing evolved, she began sharing her stories with anyone who would listen. It was her way of coping with a less than perfect life in a rough section of Louisville, KY.

Although writing was her passion, life took Keisha on a different path. Earning a Baccalaureate Degree from Indiana University, Keisha entered the health insurance field. Starting off in an entry level position, Keisha gained experience in several departments, before landing a position as a trainer. Along with training new employees, her responsibilities included writing processing manuals for several different health plans, as well as researching and writing corporate policies and procedures. This aspect of her position ignited her desire for writing a novel, which had been dormant for some time.
In 2015, Keisha made the decision to articulate her dreams, and make her vision a reality. While maintaining her full-time job, late nights and weekends became her personal time, allowing her imagination to run wild. Although she has written several unpublished works in a variety of genres, urban fiction and romance are her genres of choice.

Keisha currently resides on the West Coast with her husband and children. When she’s not involved with their various extracurricular activities, she’s usually in search of a good book to read. A self-proclaimed homebody, Keisha enjoys both designing and sketching, and is interested in freelance editing.

Back at it

Today, I started on the sequel to my debut novel. I don't want to disclose the title just yet. I've been playing around with some possible titles, but nothing is definite as of yet. It's been a busy morning! In between writing and catching up on work stuff (yes, I have a full-time job), I managed to squeeze in two sets of 25 squats for my sagging backside. Gravity is not my friend.

Today's goal = finish chapter one. It's doable, but with everything else I have to do today, it's going to be easier said than done. I have a Kindergarten graduation to attend tomorrow, which means I have to wash and tame my six-year-old's head, buy her a graduation outfit (I'm a procrastinator), and order her balloons and flowers. In addition, I also have to re-twist my boy's dreads, walk four miles around my subdivision, prepare two presentations for work on Thursday, cook, clean, and a whole shitload of other things. My mind is already racing from all the tasks I have to complete!

I stay busy, but I wouldn't trade my hectic life for anything! The kids are in school for two more hours today, so first up...writing. Pray for me y'all!!!

Until next time...

All Smiles

I'm happy to report that I have found a publishing home! WooHoo!!! I am extremely happy with the progress I have made thus far. It's been slow, but steady. Expect my debut novel to be released soon. I'll post more information as the date nears!

Until next time...

Blog Virgin

Who would have ever thought that I would start a blog? I'll wait... :-)

As a new author in a heavily saturated market, it's imperative to find ways to network yourself and interact with others. In addition to my Facebook page: Facebook.com/AuthorKeishaElle and my Twitter page: @Keisha_Elle, I chose a blog to connect myself with other authors, readers, and anyone else wanting to learn more about my craft.

A little about me...

I was born and raised in Louisville, KY. 6 1/2 years ago I got some sense and left that crime-filled city. Being the featured city on numerous episodes of The First 48 was not a good look. I now live in hotter than hell Arizona. :-( Go figure.

I'm *coughs loudly* years old, married, a mom, you know...the usual stuff. I have a heart of gold and if you keep it real with me, I'll return the favor. Just don't cross me. I can hold a grudge for years. I'm a Gemini and we're petty like that.

Let me start with a few housekeeping items...

  • I have a mouth like a sailor. I'll try to tone things down a bit, but you might get some slip-ups. Don't trip. I'm human.
  • Although I'm a writer, don't call me out on grammatical errors or sentence structure issues. This is a blog, not a novel. Again, don't trip. I'm human.
  • My genres of choice are urban lit, romance, and erotica. If this offends you, this blog is not for you.
  • I'm blunt. I call it like I see it. If you don't like this direct approach, I don't know what to tell you. That's just me.

Well, that was short and sweet! :-) Seriously, I'm just a cool ass person trying to find a publishing home for my debut novels. This blog will highlight my journey and hopefully my success.

Until next time...
Keisha
